ABOUT OSTIA
Ostia is a word that symbolizes the spirit of the Spanish people. Its literal translation means the host, as in the symbolic wafer one takes at mass. The word is normally spelled with an (h) as in hostia, but for pronunciation.s sake (.h. in Spanish is silent), the .h. has been deleted. You need only be in Spain for a few hours before hearing a native say the word .ostia,. and depending on the circumstances, context is important.
If you are sampling some food or wine that is just divine, you would say "Es la ostia".
If you are in love with someone special, you would say "Tu eres la ostia".
If you are experiencing the ultimate in any milieu, that is la ostia.
But also,
If you are angry, instead of cursing, you would say "Ostia!. (in an angry tone)"
Or if you are angry with someone, you would say "Te voy a dar un pal de ostias!" (I will give you a few lumps to the head.)
We hope you will experience ostia at the restaurant, and look forward to seeing you soon.
